FHR 2010

Reaching new heights with FHR 2010

With the disappointment of not attending competition in 2009 behind them, the 2010 team looked to rebound and reestablish Formula Hardrocker Racing.  Using the Aprilia SXV 550 platform from the 2009 car, the team looked to make improvements in many areas, including a completely redesigned corner assembly, frame and aerodynamic package.  The countless number of hours spent on the car were rewarded in the form of an excellent showing at Formula SAE West at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA.

FHR 2010 took the highest placing in a single event in team history in the Skid Pad and Autocross events with Nolan Pray and Brian Wiles behind the wheel for the 2nd Place finishes in both events.  Other points of pride include a perfect score in the quality portion of the Cost event and new, innovative aerodynamic testing methods.

Corner Assembly

The new corner assembly included a redesign of the proven laser-deposited Titanium uprights, an integrated center locking stub shaft/tri-pod housing, new brake rotors and carriers and wheel centers designed and manufactured in-house.

Aero Package

For FHR.10, a new aerodynamic package consisting of front and rear wings and a new for 2010 mid-wing was utilized.  These components were manufactured in-house with assistance from Zyvex Performance Materials in the form of carbon nano-tube infused pre-preg material.
